On
a typical fixed price/fixed time project, Techlogix
places 20% of its engineering resources onsite
in the US. These resources are divided into
the following three categories:
Project
Architect
Focused on technical architecture, high-level
design and business process issues the Architect
leads an initial two-three week scoping exercise
for each engagement and performs a quality audit
on the work product of the project team. The Architect
is involved in no more than two to three projects
at any given time.
Onsite
Project Manager
A highly skilled, experienced engineer with the
ability to deliver a project to the client end-to-end.
The Project Manager (PM) has point responsibility
for the project and is the main client liaison.
Each PM is dedicated to a single project at any
given time.
Project
Engineer
Provides engineering backup to the Project Manager
and is responsible for delivery and deployment
issues at the client site. Each Project Engineer
is assigned to an average of two projects at any
given time. |
Techlogix
places 80% of its engineering resources at the
Offsite
Development Center. Each project team utilizes
the following four resources:
Offsite
Project Manager
Along
with the onsite project manager, he is the key
manager responsible for the development and delivery
of the project. The Offsite Project Manager is
the third participant in the project scoping exercise
at the client premises and is the joint author
of the Functional Specifications and the Technical
Design (along with the Onsite Project Manager).
The Offsite Project Manager is dedicated to a
single project at any given time.
Project
Developers
These constitute the engineering team that is
responsible for the core development activity.
The engineering team is dedicated to a single
project at any given time.
Quality
Engineers
These constitute the Quality Assurance (QA) team.
This team is brought on to the project as needed
with a single QA engineer given lead responsibility.
This engineer is responsible for the Testing Specifications
and for the QA of the Functional Specifications.
The QA team reports directly to the Vice President
Quality and through that person to the Center
Director.
Project
Architect
The Offsite team is also able to draw on the knowledge
and experience of the Project Architects as they
produce the detailed Design Document.
Content
Development Consultant
If a
web site's design is a part of the project, the
CDC assists the project team and works with the
client to develop the creative theme and develops
templates for standardized content (if applicable)
throughout the application. |
